In the 3rd minute, Porziano Marchitelli left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Italy fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. Georgi Velinov showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Zaccheo Andolina, who was totally free with the ball in the 6th minute. In the 7th minute the ball was on its way in behind Italy's goalkeeper Flavio Vittori, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Porziano Marchitelli struck a weak shot in the 9th minute. Georgi Velinov didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Italy. Georgi Velinov made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Zaccheo Andolina in the 12th minute of play. 15 minutes into the match, Italy's Zaccheo Andolina sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Georgi Velinov narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After 19 played minutes Italy got a freekick which was hit by Sigfrido Auletta. Flavio Vittori showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ahmet Refik Ülgü in the 20th minute of the match. 25 minutes had been played when some careless play by FC CSKA's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Sigfrido Auletta was slow to take the kick. During this time Italy's players had a chance to rest. After taking down the ball on Italy's corner Sigfrido Auletta fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Georgi Velinov quite easily take care of the ball. 27 minutes into the match, FC CSKA's goal looked a bit too open when Zaccheo Andolina came free, but Georgi Velinov reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Flavio Vittori stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ahmet Refik Ülgü's shot from short distance in the 29th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Zaccheo Andolina in the 30th minute of play forced FC CSKA's goalkeeper Georgi Velinov to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Zaccheo Andolina's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Georgi Velinov read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 32nd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Zaccheo Andolina in the 37th minute of play forced FC CSKA's goalkeeper Georgi Velinov to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 42nd minute, Tanel Kiik hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Georgi Velinov showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Zaccheo Andolina in the 44th minute of the match. The supporters of Italy booed when FC CSKA was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 47 match minutes in a wonderful position. Arnulfo Roderigo didn't get a good kick on the ball. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Zaccheo Andolina to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 51st minute Zaccheo Andolina shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Georgi Velinov saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Siricio Liotta received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Georgi Velinov came out and tried to block the shot, but Siricio Liotta slotted it home off the left post making it 1-2 in the 53rd minute. 57 minutes into the match, FC CSKA's goal looked a bit too open when Zaccheo Andolina came free, but Georgi Velinov reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Siricio Liotta in the 62nd minute of play forced FC CSKA's goalkeeper Georgi Velinov to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 64 played minutes, FC CSKA's Todor Yanchev shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Flavio Vittori came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in FC CSKA reached it. After 65 played minutes FC CSKA got a freekick which was hit by Georgi Dimitrov. Flavio Vittori took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Georgi Dimitrov, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Zaccheo Andolina received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Georgi Velinov came out and tried to block the shot, but Zaccheo Andolina slotted it home off the left post making it 1-3 in the 72nd minute. In the 77th minute Italy were awarded a corner. Sigfrido Auletta went to the cornerflag to take it. The goalkeeper smacked the ball away after a great corner, but Sigfrido Auletta advanced and headed the ball into goal, 1-4 in the 78th minute. Zaccheo Andolina scored 1-5 in the 82nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Georgi Velinov, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Italy's Guiscardo Davide was substituted for Sigfrido Auletta. After 87 minutes of play, FC CSKA's Ahmet Refik Ülgü made it 2-5 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Flavio Vittori was left in no man's land by his defense there! Everyone was convinced a goal was close when Italy's Adriano Curto in the 91st minute lifted the ball towards the upper right corner, but Georgi Velinov was perfectly placed and prevented a goal for FC CSKA through an amazing save. Adriano Curto took the ball and in the 93 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Georgi Velinov. Georgi Velinov dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-6. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ahmet Refik Ülgü in the 96th minute of play forced Italy's goalkeeper Flavio Vittori to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Italy eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
