But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Frank Sachs couldn't finish the play. In the 64th minute Eduardo Cossa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tommy Kahn saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Francisco Conceicão had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Francisco Conceicão in the 85th minute of play forced Germany's goalkeeper Tommy Kahn to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Willy Stieler charged in rather forcefully in the 88th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down.
