Edward Vanderstraeten might have been able to make a better finish in the 43rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Grzegorz Szamotulski. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Edward Vanderstraeten ran back to his position shaking his head. Grzegorz Szamotulski made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Edward Vanderstraeten in the 43rd minute of play. Casper Claes made an important save on a dangerous shot by Wagner Kill in the 46th minute. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Edward Vanderstraeten stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 54th play minute Edward Vanderstraeten came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Grzegorz Szamotulski. 1-1. Wagner Kill blasted a shot towards the goal in the 61st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Casper Claes having to make a save. Grzegorz Szamotulski made a fantastic save in the 64th minute, when Edward Vanderstraeten sent off a good shot on target. Grzegorz Szamotulski made an important save on a dangerous shot by Sander Dermaut in the 67th minute. In the 69th minute, Wagner Kill made a precise shot to the right of Casper Claes. Belgium's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-1. In the 72nd minute, Wagner Kill ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Casper Claes was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-1. Casper Claes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Wagner Kill, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
