Arnout Reekers made a fantastic save in the 21st minute, when Valentin Rydberg sent off a good shot on target. Nils-Erik Åhlberg made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wim Wilmes in the 25th minute of play. Gijsbert ter Kruimer struck a weak shot in the 28th minute. Nils-Erik Åhlberg didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Netherlands. After a defensive mix-up in Runa United's zone, Wim Wilmes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nils-Erik Åhlberg came out of the goal and Wim Wilmes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 33rd minute, Valentin Rydberg left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Runa United fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. Wim Wilmes might have been able to make a better finish in the 39th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Nils-Erik Åhlberg. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Wim Wilmes ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 39th minute Wim Wilmes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nils-Erik Åhlberg saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gustaaf Groeneveldt's late challenge caught a Runa United's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Gustaaf Groeneveldt helped the player get up and apologised. Gustaaf Groeneveldt kicked well hit freekick during the 40th minute of the match. Gijsbert ter Kruimer received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Nils-Erik Åhlberg tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Gustaaf Groeneveldt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Wim Wilmes kicked well hit freekick during the 45th minute of the match. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Gijsbert ter Kruimer to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 51stth minute of the game Frank Brogren who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Netherlands's Arnout Reekers was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Lars Meesters fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nils-Erik Åhlberg having to interfere. Gustaaf Groeneveldt sent away a hard shot on goal in the 57th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Arnout Reekers took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Valentin Rydberg, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 60th minute of the match Runa United got a corner. Netherlands's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Bo Eriksson ran over to the corner to take the kick. Netherlands's Arnout Reekers played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Frank Brogren in the 66th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Frank Brogren in the 66th minute of play forced Netherlands's goalkeeper Arnout Reekers to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Nils-Erik Åhlberg showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer, who was totally free with the ball in the 67th minute. A nice corner shot did that Egbert Nijveldt got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Nils-Erik Åhlberg quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Valentin Rydberg in the 72nd minute of play forced Netherlands's goalkeeper Arnout Reekers to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
