After a defensive mix-up in Portugal's zone, Jose-Antonio Vazquez stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 3 minutes into the match, Jose-Antonio Vazquez dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Wilson Amorim, 1-0. Caetano Moreira kicked well hit freekick during the 8th minute of the match. In the 12th minute, Jose-Antonio Vazquez hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 13 minutes into the match, F.C. AMERICAN BARÇA's goal looked a bit too open when Viriato Moura came free, but Alejandro Verdu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 17th minute, Gonzalo Boye ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Wilson Amorim was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. 19 minutes into the game, Federico Zanetti threw the ball into play from the sideline. Portugal's Daniel Pimentel quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gonzalo Boye in the 23rd minute of play forced Portugal's goalkeeper Wilson Amorim to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 26 minutes had been played when some careless play by Portugal's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Gonzalo Boye was slow to take the kick. During this time F.C. AMERICAN BARÇA's players had a chance to rest. The corner ended in Gonzalo Boye almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Portugal's Wilson Amorim did a great save. Wilson Amorim took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jose-Antonio Vazquez, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 29 minutes into the match, F.C. AMERICAN BARÇA's goal looked a bit too open when Viriato Moura came free, but Alejandro Verdu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gonzalo Boye in the 35th minute of play forced Portugal's goalkeeper Wilson Amorim to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 36 minutes into the game, Portugal's Felipe Barreto nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. AMERICAN BARÇA's Alejandro Verdu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Graciano Coutinho in the 41st minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Viriato Moura in the 42nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Alejandro Verdu saved F.C. AMERICAN BARÇA from getting behind. When Federico Zanetti fell near the penalty area in the 45th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored F.C. AMERICAN BARÇA's protests and gave Federico Zanetti a yellow card for diving instead. Federico Zanetti kicked well hit freekick during the 45th minute of the match.

Alejandro Verdu made a fantastic save in the 51st minute, when Felipe Barreto sent off a good shot on target. An unexpectedly hard shot by Viriato Moura in the 53rd minute of play forced F.C. AMERICAN BARÇA's goalkeeper Alejandro Verdu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Portugal's Viriato Moura slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Alejandro Verdu. That made the score 2-3 after 57 minutes of play. The Portugal fans' excitement grew in the 61st match minute when Portugal's Viriato Moura looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 2-4 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. If Neal Messer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 65th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Portugal made a substitution. Felipinho Amorim replaced Felipe Barreto. Portugal's Bartolomeu Dias was substituted for Viriato Moura. In the 68th minute, Marc Vilaplana hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Graciano Coutinho could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 69th minute of the match, but Alejandro Verdu made a huge save. When Felipinho Amorim fell near the penalty area in the 71st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Portugal's protests and gave Felipinho Amorim a yellow card for diving instead. Felipinho Amorim kicked well hit freekick during the 72nd minute of the match. 73 minutes into the game, Fabricio Andrade was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Portugal's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave F.C. AMERICAN BARÇA the free kick. Fabricio Andrade hit a great freekick 73 minutes into the match. With a little luck, F.C. AMERICAN BARÇA's Alejandro Verdu got control of the ball when Bartolomeu Dias tried to sneak it across the goal line. The audience was convinced that Bartolomeu Dias's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Alejandro Verdu was relentless in the 82nd minute of the game. In the 84th minute, Neal Messer ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Wilson Amorim was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-4. Gică Popescu kicked well hit freekick during the 88th minute of the match.
