Match Report

Kåge Stadion
Spectators: 40 (Terracing: 31, Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0)
The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Andreas King took the kick off in the first half of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Torsten Bäcklin in the 2nd minute of play forced Germany's goalkeeper Tommy Kahn to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 4 minutes into the game, Janik Vogt was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Germany's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Kåge BF the free kick. Janik Vogt kicked well hit freekick during the 4th minute of the match. If Frank Sachs had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 8th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The supporters of Kåge BF booed when Germany was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 12 match minutes in a wonderful position. Chris Mergenthaler didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 17th minute, Torsten Bäcklin ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Tommy Kahn was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. Tommy Kahn was out of position in the 20 minute of play, and Torsten Bäcklin capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Torsten Bäcklin really showed his touch with that goal: 2-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Albin Holweck in the 31st minute of play forced Kåge BF's goalkeeper Roland Backman to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Frank Sachs's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Roland Backman read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 33rd minute of play. 37 minutes into the match, Germany's Frank Sachs sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Roland Backman narrowly saved just below the crossbar. A throw-in in the 43rd minute of the game was made by Luca Moți with Andreas King as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. Torsten Bäcklin struck a weak shot in the 45th minute. Tommy Kahn didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Kåge BF. Kåge BF's Torsten Bäcklin got a good chance for a goal in the 47th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

If Andreas King had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 51st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Frank Sachs fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Roland Backman having to interfere. Adrian Dreifuss's late challenge caught a Kåge BF's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Adrian Dreifuss helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Germany getting a freekick after 57 minutes play. Adrian Dreifuss hit a great ball. After a rather tough play, Germany's Willy Stieler got a free kick in the 65th minute. When Torsten Bäcklin came up free with the goalie in the 67th minute, the Kåge BF fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Torsten Bäcklin couldn't finish the play. Roland Backman took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Frank Sachs, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a little luck, Kåge BF's Roland Backman got control of the ball when Frank Sachs tried to sneak it across the goal line. Frank Sachs recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 73rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Adrian Dreifuss was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 78 minutes had been played. Adrian Dreifuss hit a great freekick 78 minutes into the match. Kåge BF made a substitution. Jan-Olof Bergman replaced Andreas King. After 79 played minutes Germany got a freekick which was hit by Adrian Dreifuss. An unexpectedly hard shot by Torsten Bäcklin in the 81st minute of play forced Germany's goalkeeper Tommy Kahn to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Frank Sachs fell near the penalty area in the 95th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Germany's protests and gave Frank Sachs a yellow card for diving instead. Frank Sachs hit a great freekick 95 minutes into the match. The Kåge BF players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
