The audience was convinced that Guillaume Chaine's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Gustave Souchu was relentless in the 8th minute of the game. Valette Stars were awarded a corner in the 9th minute after R.C. Marseille's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Rafail Rusev took the corner. Rafail Rusev made a great header on Valette Stars's corner, it was just that R.C. Marseille's Gustave Souchu managed to reach the ball for a save. Gustave Souchu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rafail Rusev, who was totally free with the ball in the 12th minute. Marseille got a corner. Valette Stars's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Renan Bouzat ran over to the corner to take the kick. A well done corner resulted in Emilio Abrego drilling the ball in to score 2-1 behind Valette Stars's goalkeeper. Gustave Souchu stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Guillaume Chaine's shot from short distance in the 32nd minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cyrille Melon in the 36th minute of play forced Valette Stars's goalkeeper 蔡雄云 to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Julien Chassot kicked well hit freekick during the 43rd minute of the match. 47 minutes into the match, Mihail Toader dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of 蔡雄云, 3-1. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 3-1 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Guillaume Chaine to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 77th minute Cyrille Melon shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but 蔡雄云 saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in R.C. Marseille's zone, Rafail Rusev stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gustave Souchu came out of the goal and Rafail Rusev tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 84 played minutes Valette Stars got a freekick which was hit by Julien Chassot. 87 minutes into the game, Guillaume Chaine recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Gustave Souchu. Guillaume Chaine showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 3-2. Gustave Souchu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Guillaume Chaine, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. R.C. Marseille's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
