After having played for 4 minutes, Bayan Baye managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Wargön's supporters crossed their fingers, but Bayan Baye was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Sören Tunberg took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Adam Olaru, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 15 minutes into the match, Wargön's goal looked a bit too open when Adam Olaru came free, but Sören Tunberg reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 16 minutes into the match, Wargön's Mikael Liberatore sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Carol Stinga narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 17 minutes had been played when some careless play by Romania's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Bayan Baye was slow to take the kick. During this time Wargön's players had a chance to rest. The corner led to Wargön's Zdzislaw Liermann getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. Sören Tunberg took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rasvan Cristescu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Sören Tunberg showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Adam Olaru, who was totally free with the ball in the 24th minute. The audience was convinced that Adam Olaru's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Sören Tunberg was relentless in the 48th minute of the game. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Mikael Liberatore to make the kick off.
