When Sigfrido Auletta came up free with the goalie in the 48th minute, the Italy fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Sigfrido Auletta couldn't finish the play. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Guido Python to make the kick off. Italy's Siricio Liotta managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Cosme Demesio in the 54 minute of the game. When Zaccheo Andolina fell near the penalty area in the 59th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Italy's protests and gave Zaccheo Andolina a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Italy getting a freekick after 59 minutes play. Zaccheo Andolina hit a great ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Porziano Marchitelli got free with Ingemar Åberg in the 63rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 70th minute of the game. One of Protegéerna:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Italy:s goal. Protegéerna:s Ingemar Åberg showed great skill when he stopped Sigfrido Auletta:s penalty. Zaccheo Andolina fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ingemar Åberg having to interfere. Italy's Sansone Vanella was substituted for Gianpaolo Mascari. Italy made a substitution. Guiscardo Davide replaced Sigfrido Auletta. Italy's Adriano Curto was substituted for Zaccheo Andolina. Protegéerna's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Michael Näver in the 87th minute.
