YR Mechelen's Andries Van Mechelen played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Vitinho de Barros in the 19th minute of play. Peter Čech showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Paul-Louis Van Mechelen, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. Anderson de Toledo hit a great freekick 24 minutes into the match. If Inácio Romero had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Paul-Louis Van Mechelen stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. YR Mechelen's Vincent Van Mechelen was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Peter Čech in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. With a little luck, YR Mechelen's Andries Van Mechelen got control of the ball when Inácio Romero tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 76 played minutes YR Mechelen got a freekick which was hit by Joery Van Mechelen. Aírton Faria was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 77th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Vitinho de Barros did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 0-4 to the left of a surprised Andries Van Mechelen 79 minutes into the match.
