Karl-Johan Ahlqvist showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Edward Vanderstraeten, who was totally free with the ball in the 14th minute. 16 minutes into the match, Belgium's Edward Vanderstraeten sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Karl-Johan Ahlqvist narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Edward Vanderstraeten sent away a hard shot on goal in the 19th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. The Black Rose 1979 fans' excitement grew in the 22nd match minute when Black Rose 1979's Waldemar Matorin looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Karl-Johan Ahlqvist took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Edward Vanderstraeten, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Black Rose 1979's Karl-Johan Ahlqvist played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Edward Vanderstraeten in the 33rd minute of play. In the 37th minute of the match, D.J. Gol got a very nice opportunity to score, but Casper Claes was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Casper Claes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Waldemar Matorin in the 39th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Belgium's Lenny Clocheret got a free kick in the 41st minute. Belgium's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Edward Vanderstraeten in the 47th minute. After taking down the ball on Belgium's corner Simon Sabbe fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Karl-Johan Ahlqvist quite easily take care of the ball. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Edward Vanderstraeten made a kick off. After 53 played minutes Belgium got a freekick which was hit by Laurens Vandamme. An unexpectedly hard shot by D.J. Gol in the 55th minute of play forced Belgium's goalkeeper Casper Claes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Belgium's Casper Claes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by D.J. Gol in the 58th minute of play. In the 59th minute Gerardo Hitz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Casper Claes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Edward Vanderstraeten had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. A collision led to Black Rose 1979 getting a freekick after 70 minutes play. Sebastian Enekoitz hit a great ball. Karl-Johan Ahlqvist was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 70th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Edward Vanderstraeten. Casper Claes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Waldemar Matorin in the 74th minute of play. In the 76th minute, Edward Vanderstraeten got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Edward Vanderstraeten blasted a shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Karl-Johan Ahlqvist having to make a save. 80 minutes into the match, Belgium's Edward Vanderstraeten sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Karl-Johan Ahlqvist narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Karl-Johan Ahlqvist made an important save on a dangerous shot by Edward Vanderstraeten in the 81st minute. Karl-Johan Ahlqvist showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Edward Vanderstraeten, who was totally free with the ball in the 83rd minute. 84 minutes into the match, Belgium's goal looked a bit too open when D.J. Gol came free, but Casper Claes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Edward Vanderstraeten had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 92 minutes into the game, Edward Vanderstraeten recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Karl-Johan Ahlqvist. Edward Vanderstraeten showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-3. The Black Rose 1979 supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Belgium's performance. The match ended with a win for Belgium.
