Popoy's Gaston Xabier played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eduardo Jakue in the 15th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eduardo Jakue in the 17th minute of play forced Popoy's goalkeeper Gaston Xabier to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Gutemberg booed when Popoy was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rigoberto Santos didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jeremias Jaunzuria sent away a hard shot on goal in the 20th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Eugenio Selatse's late challenge caught a Gutemberg's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Freddy Mingo acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 29th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Vicente Quilino. Jeremias Jaunzuria received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 31st minute. Gaston Xabier tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Lino Rubio's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Freddy Mingo was relentless in the 36th minute of the game. In the 38th minute, Lino Rubio got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 39 minutes, Geronimo Rico mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Gutemberg and the Popoy players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 43 played minutes Popoy got a freekick which was hit by Rigoberto Santos. Jeremias Jaunzuria might have been able to make a better finish in the 44th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Gaston Xabier. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Jeremias Jaunzuria ran back to his position shaking his head. After having played for 45 minutes, Eduardo Jakue managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Gutemberg's supporters crossed their fingers, but Eduardo Jakue was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Popoy's zone, Jeremias Jaunzuria stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gaston Xabier came out of the goal and Jeremias Jaunzuria tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Lino Rubio was the one to do the kick off. After a defensive mix-up in Popoy's zone, Eduardo Jakue stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gaston Xabier came out of the goal and Eduardo Jakue tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A collision led to Gutemberg getting a freekick after 55 minutes play. Fausto Manex hit a great ball. Rigoberto Santos scored 1-0 in the 57th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Freddy Mingo, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Freddy Mingo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lino Rubio in the 61st minute of the match. 62 minutes into the game, Popoy's Lino Rubio nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Freddy Mingo made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. A collision led to Gutemberg getting a freekick after 66 minutes play. Aldo Ermengol hit a great ball. A hard shot 70 in the game by Jeremias Jaunzuria from a close distance when the talented Gaston Xabier managed to make a qualified save. Popoy's players were relieved. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Lisandro Crescencio during the 71st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. When Lino Rubio came up free with the goalie in the 79th minute, the Popoy fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Lino Rubio couldn't finish the play. In the 80th minute, Rigoberto Santos got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.
