In the 9th match minute, Génesis was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dalmacio Mikelats to maneuver through the defense. After some careless play in the Jaguars Veracruz defense, Santo Uxio kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Fidel Txurio. The Jaguars Veracruz fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Fidel Txurio should have stopped the shot. In the 16th minute, Pablo Acevedo made a precise shot to the right of Arturo Lartaun. Génesis's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-2. Arturo Lartaun showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Pablo Acevedo in the 19th minute of the match. Dalmacio Mikelats kicked well hit freekick during the 20th minute of the match. Tomás Chano took the ball and in the 21 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Arturo Lartaun. Arturo Lartaun dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-2. Fidel Txurio took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Biagio Di Martino, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 24th play minutes Wiktor Snäll shot 2-3, a short shot which went by Fidel Txurio and just under the crossbar into goal. In the 28th match minute, Jaguars Veracruz was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Amadeo Argenis to maneuver through the defense. In the 31st minute, Jaguars Veracruz's Norberto Guifre dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 3-3. An unexpectedly hard shot by Pablo Acevedo in the 34th minute of play forced Génesis's goalkeeper Arturo Lartaun to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 36 played minutes Jaguars Veracruz got a freekick which was hit by Leonel Hodei. In the 38th minute Wiktor Snäll shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fidel Txurio saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 46 minutes into the match, Jaguars Veracruz's goal looked a bit too open when Wiktor Snäll came free, but Fidel Txurio reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Koldo Cabanela hit a great freekick 53 minutes into the match. Pablo Acevedo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 55th minute. Arturo Lartaun tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Arturo Lartaun took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Delmar Artaldo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Biagio Di Martino hit a great freekick 70 minutes into the match. Arturo Lartaun showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Pablo Acevedo, who was totally free with the ball in the 73rd minute. In the 74th minute, Leonel Hodei left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Jaguars Veracruz fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-3. In the 79th minute, Jaguars Veracruz's Norberto Guifre seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Norberto Guifre the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Jaguars Veracruz protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Norberto Guifre had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. After 78 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Jaguars Veracruz! The supporters of Génesis booed when Jaguars Veracruz was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 83 match minutes in a wonderful position. Amadeo Argenis didn't get a good kick on the ball. 86 minutes into the match, Jaguars Veracruz's goal looked a bit too open when Wiktor Snäll came free, but Fidel Txurio reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The Jaguars Veracruz fans cheered their team off the field, for while Génesis had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
