Disappointed in the 0-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Ubarna Benavides made the kick off in the second half. Alejandro Afaba made an important save on a dangerous shot by Pavel Teijelo in the 58th minute. Valerio Olivares showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ubarna Benavides, who was totally free with the ball in the 61st minute. 62 minutes into the match, Universitario F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Ubarna Benavides came free, but Valerio Olivares reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Ubarna Benavides came up free with the goalie in the 65th minute, the UD Jauregui fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ubarna Benavides couldn't finish the play. After a rather tough play, UD Jauregui's Ayoví Lantadilla got a free kick in the 67th minute. Universitario F.C.'s Valerio Olivares played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Boris Castellana in the 72nd minute of play. The referee felt a red card was in order, 72 minutes into the game, when Xarles Mediavilla put in a rough tackle. In a very dangerous position, a player in Universitario F.C. fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 71st minute. Penalty! In the 78th minute the ball was on its way in behind Universitario F.C.'s goalkeeper Valerio Olivares, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Valerio Olivares stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ismael Valben's shot from short distance in the 80th minute. 81 minutes into the match, UD Jauregui's goalkeeper Alejandro Afaba had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Pavel Teijelo. After a defensive mix-up in Universitario F.C.'s zone, Boris Castellana stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Valerio Olivares came out of the goal and Boris Castellana tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Pavel Teijelo came up free with the goalie in the 94th minute, the Universitario F.C. fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Pavel Teijelo couldn't finish the play. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Universitario F.C. had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
