The Ambato SC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. When Calderón Cuenia fell near the penalty area in the 24th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ambato SC's protests and gave Calderón Cuenia a yellow card for diving instead. Calderón Cuenia hit a great freekick 24 minutes into the match. 27 minutes into the match, Llucay's goal looked a bit too open when Vitor Maleta came free, but Vidal Viciola reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Xavierlada Mena's late challenge caught a Ambato SC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card.
