The referee gave UD Eugenia a penalty, 4 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Jaime Fandiño, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Ambato SC's Ruperto Benavente. 0-1. Ruperto Benavente showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Espínola Aldasoro, who was totally free with the ball in the 12th minute. Espínola Aldasoro might have been able to make a better finish in the 21st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Ruperto Benavente. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Espínola Aldasoro ran back to his position shaking his head. Ambato SC's Ruperto Benavente played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Espínola Aldasoro in the 21st minute of play. With a little luck, UD Eugenia's Vincente Carrillos got control of the ball when Vitor Maleta tried to sneak it across the goal line. After the first half UD Eugenia were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Espínola Aldasoro to make the kick off. Ambato SC's Vitor Maleta got a good chance for a goal in the 57th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. A collision led to Ambato SC getting a freekick after 58 minutes play. Jimmy Bichesne hit a great ball. Espínola Aldasoro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ruperto Benavente having to interfere. Mariano Alas hit a great freekick 72 minutes into the match. Miguel Corro recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 73rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Miguel Corro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 77th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ruperto Benavente having to interfere. Ambato SC's defense didn't have a chance, in the 78th minute, when Espínola Aldasoro scored to the left of an out of position Ruperto Benavente, making the score, 0-2. 82 minutes into the match, UD Eugenia's goal looked a bit too open when Vitor Maleta came free, but Vincente Carrillos reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Miguel Corro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ruperto Benavente having to interfere. If Rodriguez Villafane had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Mariano Alas's late challenge caught a UD Eugenia's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Mariano Alas helped the player get up and apologised. In the 96th minute Mariano Alas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vincente Carrillos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
