Veracruz SC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Teofilo Alguea was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Alejandro Gipils struck a weak shot in the 9th minute. Ramos Zambranos didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Carcabon SC. Alejandro Gipils blasted a shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Ramos Zambranos having to make a save. If Alejandro Gipils had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 17 minutes into the match, Veracruz SC's goal looked a bit too open when Vedillo Alarid came free, but Ramos Zambranos reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Alejandro Gipils sent away a hard shot on goal in the 19th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Rolando Geli kicked well hit freekick during the 40th minute of the match. 41 minutes into the game Fabricio Jubera kicked a great long shot which passed Camilo Rabelo straight ahead into the goal, Result 1-1. One couldn't see Fabricio Jubera behind all of his teammates who surrounded to congratulate him. When Javier Guilarte came up free with the goalie in the 44th minute, the Veracruz SC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Javier Guilarte couldn't finish the play. In the 46th minute, one of Carcabon SC:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Carcabon SC. The goalkeeper, Camilo Rabelo, was totally fooled by Veracruz SC's Fabricio Jubera, who 47 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.
The wind increased when Javier Guilarte made the kick off in the second half. Javier Guilarte sent away a hard shot on goal in the 53rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 55thth minute of the game Javier Guilarte who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Carcabon SC's Camilo Rabelo was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Carcabon SC's Vedillo Alarid suffered a concussion after 57 minutes and had to leave the field. Azconzábal Piñeira's late challenge caught a Carcabon SC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Azconzábal Piñeira helped the player get up and apologised. In the 58th match minute, Veracruz SC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Azconzábal Piñeira to maneuver through the defense. If Teofilo Alguea had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Alejandro Gipils's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ramos Zambranos read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 64th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 71st minute, Alejandro Gipils managed to get in a good position for a shot. Carcabon SC's supporters rose to their feet, but Alejandro Gipils was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Michael Trujillo helped the player get up and apologised. After 87 played minutes Veracruz SC got a freekick which was hit by Michael Trujillo. Alejandro Gipils might have been able to make a better finish in the 89th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Ramos Zambranos. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Alejandro Gipils ran back to his position shaking his head. Camilo Rabelo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Teofilo Alguea, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Veracruz SC's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
