Michael Trujillo kicked well hit freekick during the 8th minute of the match. 8 minutes into the match, Veracruz SC's goal looked a bit too open when Urtsua Ascazua came free, but Ramos Zambranos reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Xuoco Bernabeytia made an important save on a dangerous shot by Javier Guilarte in the 14th minute. Teofilo Alguea fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Xuoco Bernabeytia having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 21st minute, Urtsua Ascazua managed to get in a good position for a shot. Tixan FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Urtsua Ascazua was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ramos Zambranos breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Orfilio Miquel struck a weak shot in the 22nd minute. Ramos Zambranos didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Tixan FC. 24 minutes into the game, Urtsua Ascazua cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Ramos Zambranos was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. When Orfilio Miquel fell near the penalty area in the 27th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Tixan FC's protests and gave Orfilio Miquel a yellow card for diving instead. In the 27th minute, Orfilio Miquel hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Tixan FC's Xuoco Bernabeytia proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 28th minute of the match, managed to save Tixan FC from getting a goal against them. After 30 played minutes Javier Guilarte rounded Tixan FC's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 1-1. Xuoco Bernabeytia made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Javier Guilarte in the 34th minute of play. Veracruz SC's Ramos Zambranos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Vellito Gian in the 43rd minute of play. 45 minutes into the match, Tixan FC's goalkeeper Xuoco Bernabeytia had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Teofilo Alguea. Hector-Luis Bringas hit a great freekick 46 minutes into the match. If Javier Guilarte had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Urtsua Ascazua made a kick off. After a rather tough play, Veracruz SC's Alfonso Horreo got a free kick in the 55th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Urtsua Ascazua in the 58th minute of play forced Veracruz SC's goalkeeper Ramos Zambranos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Tixan FC booed when Veracruz SC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 59 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alfonso Horreo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Urtsua Ascazua was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 61st minute. Tixan FC's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Veracruz SC's Teofilo Alguea got a good chance for a goal in the 63rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Xuoco Bernabeytia showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Javier Guilarte, who was totally free with the ball in the 91st minute. The second half was just like the first, even and exciting. The match ended in a draw.
