With a couple of smart ball manuevers Froylan Yermo in the 8th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ximeno Bucesta saved Montelimar from getting behind. Ximeno Bucesta made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tab Igartua in the 9th minute of play. Tab Igartua fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ximeno Bucesta having to interfere. Hernan Zarzuelo made a fantastic save in the 18th minute, when Ramos Malpica sent off a good shot on target. Froylan Yermo scored 0-1 in the 20th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Ximeno Bucesta, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Hernan Zarzuelo stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Calvino Candelo's shot from short distance in the 23rd minute. Calvino Candelo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 36th minute. Els Cules's goalkeeper Hernan Zarzuelo had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Ramos Malpica. 44 minutes into the game, Dantel Falcon was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. F.C. Els Cules's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Montelimar the free kick. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

52 minutes into the match, F.C. Els Cules's goal looked a bit too open when Ramos Malpica came free, but Hernan Zarzuelo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Peyo Selgas charged in rather forcefully in the 66th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Calvino Candelo couldn't finish the play.
