After some fancy dribbling in the 8th minute, Teofilo Gutiérrez managed to get in a good position for a shot. Rayo Vallecano de Madrid's supporters rose to their feet, but Teofilo Gutiérrez was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Nisio Saro breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Roman Lloves hit a great freekick 9 minutes into the match. Machado Ludeña sent away a hard shot on goal in the 14th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 1-0 became the score in the 17th minute when Tonete Villavedon elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. 21 minutes into the match, Foro Lezama notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Rayo Vallecano de Madrid's Cristian Zapata. Cristian Zapata was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Jacobo Morellana during the 24th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 24 played minutes Cousarijuna got a freekick which was hit by Jacobo Morellana. The crowd rose to their feet as Tonete Villavedon kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Nisio Saro. That made the score 2-1 in the 28 minute of play. Estebano Teixido kicked well hit freekick during the 31st minute of the match. In the 32nd minute, Rayo Vallecano de Madrid's Tonete Villavedon ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Nisio Saro. Nisio Saro yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 3-1. If Foro Lezama had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Nisio Saro stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Tonete Villavedon's shot from short distance in the 37th minute. A hard shot 42 in the game by Teofilo Gutiérrez from a close distance when the talented Nisio Saro managed to make a qualified save. Cousarijuna's players were relieved. Teofilo Gutiérrez might have been able to make a better finish in the 46th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Nisio Saro. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Teofilo Gutiérrez ran back to his position shaking his head. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 3-1 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Machado Ludeña was the one to do the kick off. When Mercurio Caballeria came up free with the goalie in the 51st minute, the Rayo Vallecano de Madrid fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Mercurio Caballeria couldn't finish the play. After 52 minutes, Xorxe Basante mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Cousarijuna and the Rayo Vallecano de Madrid players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 52nd minute, Xorxe Basante hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Teofilo Gutiérrez fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nisio Saro having to interfere. Machado Ludeña sent away a hard shot on goal in the 55th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 58 played minutes Rayo Vallecano de Madrid got a freekick which was hit by Humberto Ruy. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Teofilo Gutiérrez in the 62nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Nisio Saro prevented the ball from getting in the gole. When Estebano Teixido fell near the penalty area in the 63rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Cousarijuna's protests and gave Estebano Teixido a yellow card for diving instead. After 63 played minutes Cousarijuna got a freekick which was hit by Estebano Teixido. If Tonete Villavedon had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Teofilo Gutiérrez fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nisio Saro having to interfere. Nisio Saro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Teofilo Gutiérrez, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Nisio Saro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tonete Villavedon, who was totally free with the ball in the 75th minute. In the 76th match minute, Cousarijuna was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Roman Lloves to maneuver through the defense. In the 77th minute of the match Salvatore Urrechua sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Nisio Saro skillfully saved the ball. After 78 minutes, Tonete Villavedon mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Rayo Vallecano de Madrid and the Cousarijuna players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 79th match minute, Cousarijuna was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Machado Ludeña to maneuver through the defense. Nisio Saro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tonete Villavedon, who was totally free with the ball in the 81st minute. The supporters of Cousarijuna booed when Rayo Vallecano de Madrid was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 82 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eulalio Collazo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Tonete Villavedon recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 88th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Teofilo Gutiérrez in the 89th minute of play forced Cousarijuna's goalkeeper Nisio Saro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Estebano Teixido got his second yellow card in the match during the 90th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. After 91 played minutes Cousarijuna got a freekick which was hit by Estebano Teixido. 94 minutes into the match, Rayo Vallecano de Madrid's Teofilo Gutiérrez sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Nisio Saro narrowly saved just below the crossbar. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Rayo Vallecano de Madrid had played much better football throughout.
