Hernan Sobrevilla was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 17 minutes into the match. In a very dangerous position, a player in Curairima FC fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 17th minute. Penalty! A collision led to Curairima FC getting a freekick after 23 minutes play. Gonza Tavira hit a great ball. In the 24th minute of the match Inaki Cores sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Pepito Zubizarrieta skillfully saved the ball. Robustiano Salbago could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 28th minute of the match, but Pepito Zubizarrieta made a huge save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Veremundo Baezabal in the 30th minute of play forced Providencia FC's goalkeeper Honorio Zaera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Veremundo Baezabal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a little luck, Curairima FC's Pepito Zubizarrieta got control of the ball when Robustiano Salbago tried to sneak it across the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 37th minute, Veremundo Baezabal managed to get in a good position for a shot. Curairima FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Veremundo Baezabal was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Honorio Zaera breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 39th minute, Veremundo Baezabal got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Robustiano Salbago succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 2-0 in the 42nd playminute. In the 47th minute, Veremundo Baezabal got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

The Curairima FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Pepito Zubizarrieta should have stopped the shot. If Robustiano Salbago had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 89 minutes into the match, Curairima FC's goal looked a bit too open when Robustiano Salbago came free, but Pepito Zubizarrieta reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Andres Gallega came up free with the goalie in the 91st minute, the Providencia FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Andres Gallega couldn't finish the play. Veremundo Baezabal could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 93rd minute of the match, but Honorio Zaera made a huge save.
