Hilario Ubera's late challenge caught a SL Benfica's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Hilario Ubera helped the player get up and apologised. In the 20th match minute, Maremare was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hilario Ubera to maneuver through the defense. Oinatz Vivaldo's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Xano Iruretagoyena read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 23rd minute of play. After some careless play in the SL Benfica defense, Oinatz Vivaldo kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Xano Iruretagoyena. The SL Benfica fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Xano Iruretagoyena should have stopped the shot. Flavio Mahabe sent away a hard shot on goal in the 35th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A collision led to Maremare getting a freekick after 36 minutes play. Hilario Ubera hit a great ball. Serafino Vellosillo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 37th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Flavio Mahabe fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Saturnino Coria having to interfere. Flavio Mahabe might have been able to make a better finish in the 41st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Saturnino Coria. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Flavio Mahabe ran back to his position shaking his head. 44 minutes into the match, SL Benfica's goal looked a bit too open when Henrico Verdeces came free, but Xano Iruretagoyena reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

Saturnino Coria showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Flavio Mahabe, who was totally free with the ball in the 51st minute. After 53 minutes, Serafino Vellosillo mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the SL Benfica and the Maremare players grew even worse after the yellow card. Serafino Vellosillo hit a great freekick 53 minutes into the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Serafino Vellosillo in the 60th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Saturnino Coria saved Maremare from getting behind. Serafino Vellosillo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 62nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 65thth minute of the game Flavio Mahabe who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Maremare's Saturnino Coria was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Saturnino Coria showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Flavio Mahabe, who was totally free with the ball in the 66th minute. In the 67th match minute, Maremare was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Veronica Bringas to maneuver through the defense. A collision led to SL Benfica getting a freekick after 68 minutes play. Serafino Vellosillo hit a great ball. Jerrold Querijazu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 71st minute. Saturnino Coria tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 72 minutes into the game, Serafino Vellosillo cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Saturnino Coria was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. When SL Benfica's Flavio Mahabe in the 80th minute got a chance for a shot 80th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. SL Benfica's supporters crossed their fingers, but Flavio Mahabe was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Maremare's Saturnino Coria played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Serafino Vellosillo in the 85th minute of play. Serafino Vellosillo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Saturnino Coria having to interfere. Flavio Mahabe received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 91st minute. Saturnino Coria tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. SL Benfica were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
