Tracy Beatty stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Jerome Rouse. 0-1. The supporters of Cruzeiro off game booed when Stanley was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bo Dumas didn't get a good kick on the ball. Cruzeiro off game's Jerome Rouse played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Trenton Norman in the 27th minute of play. A collision led to Cruzeiro off game getting a freekick after 30 minutes play. Russell Pendleton hit a great ball. Trenton Norman received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 32nd minute. Jerome Rouse tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jerome Rouse took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Claude Cartwright, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 34 played minutes Cruzeiro off game got a freekick which was hit by Perry Patterson. After a defensive mix-up in Cruzeiro off game's zone, Tracy Beatty stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jerome Rouse came out of the goal and Tracy Beatty tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 37 minutes into the game, Perry Patterson was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Cruzeiro off game's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Stanley the free kick. After a rather tough play, Cruzeiro off game's Perry Patterson got a free kick in the 37th minute. Perry Patterson could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 44th minute of the match, but Trenton Overton made a huge save. When Claude Cartwright came up free with the goalie in the 46th minute, the Stanley fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Claude Cartwright couldn't finish the play. Jerome Rouse made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Claude Cartwright in the 48th minute of play. After the first half Stanley were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Trenton Norman stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 58th minute Teodoro Woodward shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Trenton Overton saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jerome Rouse didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Claude Cartwright went, in the 64th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-4 was the resulting score. The audience thought a goal was coming when Luther Prescott got free with Jerome Rouse in the 72nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 79th minute, Perry Patterson made a precise shot to the right of Trenton Overton. Stanley's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-4. Trenton Overton showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Teodoro Woodward in the 83rd minute of the match. When the match had gone on for 87 minutes, Claude Cartwright took a quick shot and it went in 1-5 without a chance for Jerome Rouse to make any attempt to save it. 90 minutes into the match, Cruzeiro off game's goalkeeper Jerome Rouse had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Claude Cartwright. Perry Patterson hit a great freekick 93 minutes into the match. When Sherwood Washington fell near the penalty area in the 97th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Stanley's protests and gave Sherwood Washington a yellow card for diving instead. Sherwood Washington kicked well hit freekick during the 97th minute of the match. The Cruzeiro off game fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Stanley were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
