In the 22nd minute, Jamesburg AFC's Graig Sampson ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Jimmy Cruz. Jimmy Cruz yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-1. Geoffrey Pickett fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rodrick Thomason having to interfere. After 30 minutes of play, Trabuco Highlands's Mike Slaughter made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Rodrick Thomason was left in no man's land by his defense there! 33 minutes into the match, Trabuco Highlands's goalkeeper Jimmy Cruz had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Erik Torres. With a little luck, Trabuco Highlands's Jimmy Cruz got control of the ball when Erik Torres tried to sneak it across the goal line. Hans Ruth fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rodrick Thomason having to interfere. In the 43rd minute Trabuco Highlands were awarded a corner. Geoffrey Pickett went to the cornerflag to take it. Disappointed in the 1-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Graig Sampson made a kick off. Jimmy Cruz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Graig Sampson, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Erik Torres in the 54th minute of play forced Trabuco Highlands's goalkeeper Jimmy Cruz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 56th minute, Hans Ruth got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Jimmy Cruz was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. If Geoffrey Pickett had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
