The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Norberto Ransom during the 3rd minute. Lorenzo Quinones fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Henry Cortes having to interfere. 29 minutes into the game, John Burnham cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-0. Henry Cortes was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Lorenzo Quinones might have been able to make a better finish in the 33rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Henry Cortes. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Henry Cortes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lorenzo Quinones in the 39th minute of the match. Vadnais Heights's Lorenzo Quinones got a good chance for a goal in the 41st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar.
