In the 7th minute of the match, Kraig Lozano tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Richard Fields saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Jed Spaulding in the 9thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Richard Fields, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. After a rather tough play, Atletico Madrid's Luke Fields got a free kick in the 16th minute. Richard Fields took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kraig Lozano, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 19th minute, Jed Spaulding got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When Kraig Lozano came up free with the goalie in the 20th minute, the Atletico Madrid fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Kraig Lozano couldn't finish the play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Whitney Cabrera during the 21st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Whitney Cabrera hit a great freekick 21 minutes into the match. Atlanta United FC's Richard Fields played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kraig Lozano in the 27th minute of play. In the 28th minute Houston Sullivan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Russ Penn saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ervin Deaton hit a great ball. Atletico Madrid's Kraig Lozano managed to work through Atlanta United FC's defense and was going for an easy goal, but he hit the shot with his toe and the ball flew outside the goal. Kraig Lozano dejectedly held out his arms as if to ask why the ball hadn't gone in. Kraig Lozano sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A collision led to Atlanta United FC getting a freekick after 42 minutes play. Ervin Deaton hit a great ball. Richard Fields made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kraig Lozano in the 43rd minute of play. Jed Spaulding struck a weak shot in the 45th minute. Richard Fields didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Atletico Madrid.

The wind increased when Rocco Duvall made the kick off in the second half. In the 51st match minute, Atletico Madrid was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Deshawn Longoria to maneuver through the defense. Richard Fields stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Kraig Lozano's shot from short distance in the 56th minute. In the 57thth minute of the game Kraig Lozano who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Atlanta United FC's Richard Fields was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball.
