With a little luck, Gotham City FC's Reynaldo Faulkner got control of the ball when Sung Conrad tried to sneak it across the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rigoberto Avery in the 17th minute of play forced Lions FC's goalkeeper Korey Conley to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 21st minute, Lions FC's Sung Conrad dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0. In the 25thth minute of the game Davis Orr who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Lions FC's Korey Conley was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. A collision led to Lions FC getting a freekick after 27 minutes play. Deshawn Wiley hit a great ball. In the 31st minute of the match, Sung Conrad got a very nice opportunity to score, but Reynaldo Faulkner was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. After a rather tough play, Lions FC's Donovan York got a free kick in the 34th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Davis Orr in the 37th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Korey Conley saved Lions FC from getting behind. Gotham City FC's Reynaldo Faulkner proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 40th minute of the match, managed to save Gotham City FC from getting a goal against them. After a rather tough play, Gotham City FC's Peter Davidson got a free kick in the 41st minute. Caleb Gray hit a great freekick 43 minutes into the match. After having played for 46 minutes, Davis Orr managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Gotham City FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Davis Orr was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Sung Conrad stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Emery Kearns charged in rather forcefully in the 51st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Emery Kearns the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Lions FC getting a freekick after 51 minutes play. In the 57th minute of the match Peter Davidson shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Korey Conley showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. With his leg Korey Conley managed to avoid a goal in the 60thth minute, when Gotham City FC's Davis Orr fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Davis Orr in the 76th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Korey Conley prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After some careless play in the Lions FC defense, Davis Orr kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Korey Conley. The Lions FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Korey Conley should have stopped the shot.
