The audience thought a goal was coming when Devin Coley got free with Thaddeus Carpenter in the 39th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 42 minutes into the match, Palm Springs FC's Walter Hernandez sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Ethan Healy narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Isidro Peck during the 43rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. If Austin Benedict had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Thaddeus Carpenter showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Devin Coley, who was totally free with the ball in the 96th minute. Thaddeus Carpenter came out of the goal in the 98th minute to try and stop a shot by La Joya's Devin Coley. But to his dismay, Devin Coley quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-1.
