Match Report

Anderson Mill
Spectators: 35 (Terracing: 27, Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0)
Tesla TEC's Cristobal Carmichael started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Sugarcreek's Kenny Candido played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristobal Carmichael in the 4th minute of play. When the match had gone on for 7 minutes, Sylvester Purvis took a quick shot and it went in 1-0 without a chance for Kenny Candido to make any attempt to save it. 10 minutes into the match, Sheldon Bristol had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of James Bergstrom. Tesla TEC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Sheldon Bristol was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. When Brent Cherry came up free with the goalie in the 14th minute, the Tesla TEC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Brent Cherry couldn't finish the play. If Brent Cherry had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Tesla TEC's Cristobal Carmichael got a good chance for a goal in the 18th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Sylvester Purvis received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 26th minute. Kenny Candido tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Sylvester Purvis sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Cristobal Carmichael struck a weak shot in the 31st minute. Kenny Candido didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Tesla TEC. When Sylvester Purvis came up free with the goalie in the 33rd minute, the Tesla TEC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Sylvester Purvis couldn't finish the play. In the 34th minute, Franklin Reyna left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Tesla TEC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-1. Cristobal Carmichael received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 37th minute. Kenny Candido tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With an all-out effort, Tesla TEC's Kenny Candido threw himself towards the right post 39 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Brent Cherry, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. The referee felt a red card was in order, 44 minutes into the game, when Bart Kohler put in a rough tackle. In the 44th minute, one of Sugarcreek:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Sugarcreek. When the match had been going on for 46 minutes, Tesla TEC's Brent Cherry got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Kenny Candido. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 3-1 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Stewart Boone to strike the kick off in the second half. The audience was convinced that Cristobal Carmichael's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Kenny Candido was relentless in the 54th minute of the game. An unexpectedly hard shot by Neal Parnell in the 56th minute of play forced Tesla TEC's goalkeeper James Bergstrom to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Kenny Candido showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristobal Carmichael in the 58th minute of the match. The supporters of Tesla TEC booed when Sugarcreek was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 59 match minutes in a wonderful position. Philip Kenney didn't get a good kick on the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Cristobal Carmichael in the 60th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Kenny Candido prevented the ball from getting in the gole. When Brent Cherry fell near the penalty area in the 62nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Tesla TEC's protests and gave Brent Cherry a yellow card for diving instead. In a very dangerous position, a player in Tesla TEC fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 61st minute. Penalty! When the match had been going on for 64 minutes, Sugarcreek's Herbert Wieringh got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of James Bergstrom. In the 67th minute Neal Parnell shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but James Bergstrom saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Kenny Candido stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Cristobal Carmichael's shot from short distance in the 69th minute. A collision led to Sugarcreek getting a freekick after 70 minutes play. Philip Kenney hit a great ball. 73 minutes into the match, Cristobal Carmichael notched a goal, 4-2, to the right of Sugarcreek's Kenny Candido. Kenny Candido was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. James Bergstrom made a fantastic save in the 84th minute, when Dexter Ventura sent off a good shot on target. Sylvester Purvis sent away a hard shot on goal in the 87th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Kenny Candido came out of the goal in the 89th minute to try and stop a shot by Tesla TEC's Cristobal Carmichael. But to his dismay, Cristobal Carmichael quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 5-2. Cobi Wilhelm sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience thought a goal was coming when Dexter Ventura got free with James Bergstrom in the 98th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. For all the effort they put into the match, the Sugarcreek players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Tesla TEC.
