FC Motagua's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. If Waldo Bush had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 40th minute Rickie Friend shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sanford Benjamin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Sanford Benjamin didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Dale Barr went, in the 49th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score.

The wind increased when Noel Denne made the kick off in the second half.
