Sanford Cullen acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 13th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Bennett Aaron. Phillip Benitez fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 14th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sanford Cullen having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kerry Haas in the 24th minute of play forced Montesa de Lugo's goalkeeper Zachariah Quintana to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With his leg Sanford Cullen managed to avoid a goal in the 27thth minute, when Montesa de Lugo's Alfredo Quinn fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side.
