Curunai's Maurilio Breton played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Elpidio Vidaurre in the 4th minute of play. The audience was convinced that Intxixu Santotis's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Donatello Diguja was relentless in the 96th minute of the game. When the referee blew the final whistle, Tobaty could leave the field as winners, despite Curunai having more of the ball for most of the match.
