Porfirio Suárez didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Yaguate. In the 9th minute Benito Ferreira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Porfirio Suárez saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Mella booed when Yaguate was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ismael Correa didn't get a good kick on the ball. Benito Ferreira's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Porfirio Suárez read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 14th minute of play. Fabio Moreno recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 17th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Yaguate's Salvador Albuquerque played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Pascual Decoux in the 20th minute of play. Salvador Albuquerque took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Pascual Decoux, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Lorenzo Orozco kicked well hit freekick during the 22nd minute of the match. Salvador Albuquerque came out of the goal in the 24th minute to try and stop a shot by Mella's Michael Cooper. But to his dismay, Michael Cooper quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Pascual Decoux sent away a hard shot on goal in the 27th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Isaac Cortez took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 32nd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Porfirio Suárez. Mella's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. After the first half Mella were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Pascual Decoux to strike the kick off in the second half. Fabio Moreno fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Porfirio Suárez having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 67th minute, Pascual Decoux managed to get in a good position for a shot. Mella's supporters rose to their feet, but Pascual Decoux was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Salvador Albuquerque breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Salvador Albuquerque made an important save on a dangerous shot by Michael Cooper in the 69th minute. After 71 played minutes Mella got a freekick which was hit by Jeronimo De Souza. After having played for 72 minutes, Benito Ferreira managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Yaguate's supporters crossed their fingers, but Benito Ferreira was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Michael Cooper received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 76th minute. Salvador Albuquerque tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 80th minute the ball was on its way in behind Mella's goalkeeper Porfirio Suárez, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Mella eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
