Angelillo Betanzos took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Marín Argo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 6 minutes into the game, one of San Luis:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Ronaldo Budinich walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. In the 9th minute, Victorino Diaz de Andrade hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Manuel Klickmann received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Angelillo Betanzos came out and tried to block the shot, but Manuel Klickmann slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 12th minute. After 24 minutes of play, San Luis's Juan Alberto Arens made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Jeraldo Delgado was left in no man's land by his defense there! After a rather tough play, San Luis's Nemesio Maralla got a free kick in the 31st minute. Manuel Klickmann received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 36th minute. Angelillo Betanzos tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Marín Argo in the 37th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Angelillo Betanzos prevented the ball from getting in the gole. An unexpectedly hard shot by Juan Alberto Arens in the 45th minute of play forced Alico's goalkeeper Jeraldo Delgado to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

A collision led to Alico getting a freekick after 53 minutes play. Zenaido Canales hit a great ball. Alico's Jeraldo Delgado proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 59th minute of the match, managed to save Alico from getting a goal against them. After some fancy dribbling in the 63rd minute, Salomón Dietsch managed to get in a good position for a shot. San Luis's supporters rose to their feet, but Salomón Dietsch was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jeraldo Delgado breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Salomón Dietsch who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 64thth minute tested the skills of Jeraldo Delgado when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Alico's Manuel Klickmann got a good chance for a goal in the 66th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Jeraldo Delgado showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Juan Alberto Arens, who was totally free with the ball in the 71st minute. Jeraldo Delgado made a fantastic save in the 72nd minute, when Salomón Dietsch sent off a good shot on target. The audience was convinced that Manuel Klickmann's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Angelillo Betanzos was relentless in the 82nd minute of the game.
