One of Règne Rouge:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of AberdeenOilers:s goal. 26 minutes into the game, AberdeenOilers's Deangelo Koehler nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Rocky Latham made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. When Parker Lanoie fell near the penalty area in the 29th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored AberdeenOilers's protests and gave Parker Lanoie a yellow card for diving instead. The Règne Rouge players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. AberdeenOilers were winning 1-2.
