In the 11th minute, Remo Meireles ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Vivaldo Correia was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. 14 minutes into the match, Frédson Tavares had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Vivaldo Correia. Caririacu AD's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Frédson Tavares was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. Gualter Brasil showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Zeca Carioca, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. Sidney Linares kicked well hit freekick during the 21st minute of the match. 24 minutes into the game, Frédson Tavares cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-3. Vivaldo Correia was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Vivaldo Correia came out of the goal in the 49th minute to try and stop a shot by XV de Caraguatatuba's Frédson Tavares. But to his dismay, Frédson Tavares quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-6. The Caririacu AD players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. XV de Caraguatatuba were winning 0-6.

A collision led to Caririacu AD getting a freekick after 55 minutes play. Dorian Peixoto hit a great ball. Remo Meireles struck a weak shot in the 57th minute. Vivaldo Correia didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for XV de Caraguatatuba. After 60 minutes, Serginho Breckenfeld mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the XV de Caraguatatuba and the Caririacu AD players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to XV de Caraguatatuba getting a freekick after 60 minutes play. Serginho Breckenfeld hit a great ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Marcel Batista got free with Vivaldo Correia in the 70th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. If Frédson Tavares had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of XV de Caraguatatuba booed when Caririacu AD was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 82 match minutes in a wonderful position. Róbson Magalhães didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Remo Meireles came up free with the goalie in the 84th minute, the XV de Caraguatatuba fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Remo Meireles couldn't finish the play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Frédson Tavares in the 86th minute of play forced Caririacu AD's goalkeeper Vivaldo Correia to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
