The ball went over the crossbar instead. Artur Severo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Miguel de Lara received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 39th minute. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Raúl de Mendonça to make the kick off. The goalkeeper, Durvalino Baptista, was totally fooled by Varzeado's Juninho Ortiz, who 66 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. Wilton Prado received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Durvalino Baptista came out and tried to block the shot, but Wilton Prado slotted it home off the left post making it 0-2 in the 70th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Wilton Prado in the 74th minute of play forced Caratianas's goalkeeper Durvalino Baptista to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Aníbal Silveira came out of the goal in the 80th minute to try and stop a shot by Caratianas's Andrézinho Berger. But to his dismay, Andrézinho Berger quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-2. A hard shot 93 in the game by Miguel de Lara from a close distance when the talented Durvalino Baptista managed to make a qualified save. Caratianas's players were relieved. If Miguel de Lara had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Varzeado played a much better game than Caratianas and deserved their victory. The Caratianas players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
