Miguel de Lara sent away a hard shot on goal in the 3rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If João Carlos da Mata had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Gilmar Batista stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Wilton Prado's shot from short distance in the 11th minute. In the 14th minute, Miguel de Lara made a precise shot to the right of Gilmar Batista. Jiquirica's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. In the 19th minute Wilton Prado shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gilmar Batista saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Miguel de Lara had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Wilton Prado sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After a rather tough play, Varzeado's João Carlos da Mata got a free kick in the 27th minute. Aníbal Silveira showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Emerson Silveira in the 28th minute of the match. 35 minutes in the game, Wilton Prado fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Gilmar Batista having to interfere. Amadeu Furlan sent away a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Gilmar Batista didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Miguel de Lara went, in the 41st minute, to the upper right corner, 2-0 was the resulting score. João Carlos da Mata was shown his second yellow card after 45 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. The supporters of Jiquirica booed when Varzeado was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 45 match minutes in a wonderful position. João Carlos da Mata didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 48 minutes, Emerson Silveira managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Jiquirica's supporters crossed their fingers, but Emerson Silveira was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Emerson Silveira stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 58th minute, Miguel de Lara left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Varzeado fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-0. After a defensive mix-up in Jiquirica's zone, Miguel de Lara stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gilmar Batista came out of the goal and Miguel de Lara tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 65 minutes into the game, Varzeado's Miguel de Lara nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Gilmar Batista made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-0. Juninho Ortiz, 72 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. If Miguel de Lara had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Miguel de Lara received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 75th minute. Gilmar Batista tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Elano Esteves's late challenge caught a Varzeado's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Elano Esteves helped the player get up and apologised. In the 78th minute, Elano Esteves hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Miguel de Lara struck a weak shot in the 80th minute. Gilmar Batista didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Varzeado. 82 minutes into the game, Varzeado's Miguel de Lara nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Gilmar Batista made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 5-0. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Artur Severo in the 88th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Gilmar Batista saved Jiquirica from getting behind. If Miguel de Lara had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 89th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Cléberson Camargo during the 90th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 91st match minute, Jiquirica was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cléberson Camargo to maneuver through the defense. If Wilton Prado had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 98 minutes into the match, Jiquirica's goal looked a bit too open when Noel Mangueira came free, but Gilmar Batista reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Varzeado fully deserved thier win.
