Joélson de Barros took the ball and in the 9 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Sílvio Luís da Silva. Sílvio Luís da Silva dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. Hugo Carioca made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Duda Rezende in the 15th minute of play. Telmo Prestes struck a weak shot in the 18th minute. Sílvio Luís da Silva didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Moscas FC. 20 minutes into the match, Meriti's goal looked a bit too open when Telmo Prestes came free, but Sílvio Luís da Silva reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Sílvio Luís da Silva made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Telmo Prestes in the 23rd minute of play. Hugo Carioca made an important save on a dangerous shot by Benê Zanette in the 27th minute. A collision led to Moscas FC getting a freekick after 32 minutes play. Vítor Fantini hit a great ball. Umberto Vander fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sílvio Luís da Silva having to interfere. In the 46th minute Benê Zanette shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hugo Carioca saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Murilo Meireles, 49 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. After the first half Moscas FC were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Umberto Vander to strike the kick off in the second half. The supporters of Meriti booed when Moscas FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 54 match minutes in a wonderful position. José Pedro Faria didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience was convinced that Duda Rezende's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Hugo Carioca was relentless in the 56th minute of the game. When Umberto Vander came up free with the goalie in the 60th minute, the Moscas FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Umberto Vander couldn't finish the play. In the 63rd minute, Alex Borges hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Umberto Vander in the 66th managed to get into a good position. Meriti's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Sílvio Luís da Silva didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Umberto Vander went, in the 87th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-3 was the resulting score. Umberto Vander might have been able to make a better finish in the 92nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Sílvio Luís da Silva. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Umberto Vander ran back to his position shaking his head. When the match was over Moscas FC could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Meriti throughout the match.
