If Dráusio Moraes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 5th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a little luck, Tugurio's Evaristo Cavalcante got control of the ball when Miguel Lago tried to sneak it across the goal line. When Donato Tavares fell near the penalty area in the 11th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Tugurio's protests and gave Donato Tavares a yellow card for diving instead. In the 12th minute the ball was on its way in behind Tugurio's goalkeeper Evaristo Cavalcante, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kléberson Terra in the 15th minute of play forced Tugurio's goalkeeper Evaristo Cavalcante to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Miguel Lagos short, quick shot in the 19thth minute got Evaristo Cavalcante to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Miguel Lago fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Evaristo Cavalcante having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Kléberson Terra in the 28th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Evaristo Cavalcante saved Tugurio from getting behind. 31 minutes into the match, Piranguassu's Miguel Lago sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Evaristo Cavalcante narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Kléberson Terra received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Evaristo Cavalcante came out and tried to block the shot, but Kléberson Terra slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 34th minute. Tugurio's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Luís Fábio Cerezo 39 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 2-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Kléberson Terra was the one to do the kick off. Kléberson Terra fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Evaristo Cavalcante having to interfere. Valdemar Mazza sent away a hard shot on goal in the 56th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Piranguassu's Tomé Messias proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 57th minute of the match, managed to save Piranguassu from getting a goal against them. Kléberson Terra received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 60th minute. Evaristo Cavalcante tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Tugurio's Pedrão Saraiva got a free kick in the 62nd minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Miguel Lago in the 65th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Evaristo Cavalcante prevented the ball from getting in the gole. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kléberson Terra in the 68th minute of play forced Tugurio's goalkeeper Evaristo Cavalcante to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Valdemar Mazza could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 71st minute of the match, but Tomé Messias made a huge save. After having played for 74 minutes, Dráusio Moraes managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Tugurio's supporters crossed their fingers, but Dráusio Moraes was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Miguel Lago sent away a hard shot on goal in the 76th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 77 minutes into the match, Piranguassu's Kléberson Terra sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Evaristo Cavalcante narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 81 minutes into the match, Piranguassu's goal looked a bit too open when Dráusio Moraes came free, but Tomé Messias reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Miguel Lago had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 94th minute Kléberson Terra shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Evaristo Cavalcante saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Dráusio Moraes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. There was no doubt that Piranguassu were the better team. Piranguassu's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
