Marcelo Ortiz lost his temper 3 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 2nd minute of the game. One of Tugurio:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Itacaja:s goal. In the 5th minute there was a penalty for Itacaja. Marcelo Marques stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Evaristo Cavalcante. 0-1. In the 9th minute the ball was on its way in behind Tugurio's goalkeeper Evaristo Cavalcante, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 12 minutes into the match, Dráuzio Antunes had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Evaristo Cavalcante. Tugurio's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Dráuzio Antunes was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. After a defensive mix-up in Tugurio's zone, Dráuzio Antunes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Evaristo Cavalcante came out of the goal and Dráuzio Antunes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Evaristo Cavalcante made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eliseu da Silveira in the 19th minute of play. Maurício Bittencourt showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Horácio Dias, who was totally free with the ball in the 24th minute. Eliseu da Silveira received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 36th minute. Evaristo Cavalcante tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Itacaja getting a freekick after 41 minutes play. Marcelo Marques hit a great ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Donato Terra during the 44th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 44th match minute, Itacaja was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Donato Terra to maneuver through the defense. After the first half Itacaja were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Valdemar Mazza to strike the kick off in the second half. Eliseu da Silveira received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 53rd minute. Evaristo Cavalcante tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Alex Peixoto charged in rather forcefully in the 54th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Alex Peixoto the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Donato Tavares might have been able to make a better finish in the 56th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Maurício Bittencourt. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Donato Tavares ran back to his position shaking his head. Dráuzio Antunes might have been able to make a better finish in the 59th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Evaristo Cavalcante. Eliseu da Silveira's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Evaristo Cavalcante read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 60th minute of play. When Alex Peixoto was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 61 minutes had been played. The supporters of Tugurio booed when Itacaja was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 62 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alex Peixoto didn't get a good kick on the ball. Maurício Bittencourt took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Valdemar Mazza, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. João Paulo Dias's late challenge caught a Tugurio's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. João Paulo Dias helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Itacaja's João Paulo Dias got a free kick in the 69th minute. Afonso Messias recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 70th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 71st minute, Dráuzio Antunes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Tugurio's Evaristo Cavalcante proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 78th minute of the match, managed to save Tugurio from getting a goal against them. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dráuzio Antunes in the 83rd minute of play forced Tugurio's goalkeeper Evaristo Cavalcante to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Eliseu da Silveira could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 85th minute of the match, but Evaristo Cavalcante made a huge save. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Horácio Dias during the 85th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Tugurio getting a freekick after 85 minutes play. Horácio Dias hit a great ball. With a little luck, Tugurio's Evaristo Cavalcante got control of the ball when Eliseu da Silveira tried to sneak it across the goal line. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Itacaja walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
