Gláuber Urbano received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 7th minute. Simão de Souza tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Eriberto Bertassi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 9th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Arlindo Abreu came out of the goal and Celso Catarinense tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Donatello Viana fell near the penalty area in the 21st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Portugal SC's protests and gave Donatello Viana a yellow card for diving instead. If Celso Catarinense had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. José Maria Alves in the 29thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Arlindo Abreu, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Genílson Pirani lost his temper 32 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Gláuber Urbano to strike the kick off in the second half. Gláuber Urbano fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Simão de Souza having to interfere. If Donatello Viana had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Gláuber Urbano succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 1-1 in the 60th playminute. After having played for 66 minutes, Gláuber Urbano managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Portugal SC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gláuber Urbano was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Chacorore's Simão de Souza played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Donatello Viana in the 68th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 70th minute, José Maria Alves managed to get in a good position for a shot. Chacorore's supporters rose to their feet, but José Maria Alves was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Arlindo Abreu breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Jacinto Sarmento had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. David Velloso's late challenge caught a Chacorore's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. David Velloso helped the player get up and apologised. With a couple of smart ball manuevers José Maria Alves in the 97th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Arlindo Abreu saved Portugal SC from getting behind.
