Spectators: 32 (Terracing: 25, Seating: 7, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Doni Paes got the match started through his kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Felippe Coelho in the 5th minute of play forced CRUZEIRO's goalkeeper Wilson Sampaio to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Reynaldo Arósio hit a great freekick 9 minutes into the match. Claudinei Velasco came out of the goal in the 18th minute to try and stop a shot by CRUZEIRO's Zé Roberto Soares. But to his dismay, Zé Roberto Soares quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. After some fancy dribbling in the 24th minute, Doni Paes managed to get in a good position for a shot. UY SCUTI's supporters rose to their feet, but Doni Paes was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Wilson Sampaio breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Carlinhos Penha blasted a shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Wilson Sampaio having to make a save. Zé Roberto Soares struck a weak shot in the 42nd minute. Claudinei Velasco didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for CRUZEIRO. UY SCUTI's Felippe Coelho got a good chance for a goal in the 45th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 46th minute, Bebeto da Silva hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Edmundo Netto to make the kick off. Claudinei Velasco showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Edmundo Netto in the 54th minute of the match. An unexpected shot in the 57th minute by Edmundo Netto got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Claudinei Velasco made an important save on a dangerous shot by Zé Roberto Soares in the 59th minute. After a defensive mix-up in CRUZEIRO's zone, Doni Paes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Wilson Sampaio came out of the goal and Doni Paes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Zé Roberto Soares had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 69th minute, Zé Roberto Soares managed to get in a good position for a shot. CRUZEIRO's supporters rose to their feet, but Zé Roberto Soares was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. After a rather tough play, UY SCUTI's Reynaldo Arósio got a free kick in the 72nd minute. 81 minutes into the game, Edmundo Netto cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Claudinei Velasco was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 88 minutes into the match, UY SCUTI's goalkeeper Claudinei Velasco had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Zé Roberto Soares. When Abel Mendonça fell near the penalty area in the 92nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored CRUZEIRO's protests and gave Abel Mendonça a yellow card for diving instead. 91 minutes into the game, one of CRUZEIRO:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. When Doni Paes came up free with the goalie in the 96th minute, the UY SCUTI fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Doni Paes couldn't finish the play.
