The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Percival Travassos struck a weak shot in the 4th minute. Pedro Paulo Vieira didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Morgado. When Percival Travassos came up free with the goalie in the 6th minute, the Morgado fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Percival Travassos couldn't finish the play. After 8 minutes of play, Samambaia's Betinho Schmidt made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Franklin Breckenfeld was left in no man's land by his defense there! Pedro Paulo Vieira took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Percival Travassos, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Pedro Paulo Vieira made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Percival Travassos in the 17th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 23rd minute, Celso Viana managed to get in a good position for a shot. Morgado's supporters rose to their feet, but Celso Viana was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Pedro Paulo Vieira breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When Celso Viana came up free with the goalie in the 30th minute, the Morgado fans jumped to their feet. Cássio Aguiar's late challenge caught a Morgado's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Cássio Aguiar helped the player get up and apologised. Cássio Aguiar kicked well hit freekick during the 33rd minute of the match. After having played for 40 minutes, Thomás Pimenta managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Morgado's supporters crossed their fingers, but Thomás Pimenta was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Pedro Paulo Vieira made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Percival Travassos in the 41st minute of play. After 46 minutes, Giovani Valle mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Samambaia and the Morgado players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 47 played minutes Samambaia got a freekick which was hit by Giovani Valle. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Celso Viana stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Luís Guilherme Furtado struck a weak shot in the 55th minute.
