The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Marcos Arantes during the 12th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 12th minute, Marcos Arantes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 17 minutes into the match, Santana FC's Marcinho Pimenta broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. Santana FC's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Marcinho Pimenta in the 34th minute. When Erasmo Linhares came up free with the goalie in the 35th minute, the Santana FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Erasmo Linhares couldn't finish the play. 41 minutes into the game, Erasmo Linhares was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Santana FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Los Gordo the free kick. After 42 played minutes Santana FC got a freekick which was hit by Erasmo Linhares. When Los Gordo's José Carioca in the 43rd minute got a chance for a shot 43rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Santana FC's goalie prevented a goal. A collision led to Santana FC getting a freekick after 44 minutes play. Adalberto Paranaense hit a great ball. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Fausto da Silveira to make the kick off. Marcos Arantes could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 64th minute of the match, but Raimundo de Salles made a huge save. If Dráusio Pinho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After having played for 70 minutes, Fausto da Silveira managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Santana FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Fausto da Silveira was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Fausto da Silveira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Romeu Cerezo having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fausto da Silveira in the 78th minute of play forced Los Gordo's goalkeeper Romeu Cerezo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 95 minutes, Dráusio Pinho mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Los Gordo and the Santana FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 95th match minute, Los Gordo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dráusio Pinho to maneuver through the defense.
