Spectators: 32 (Terracing: 25, Seating: 7, VIP seats: 0) Edson Baiano started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. After a rather tough play, Zelandia's Aleandro Rossi got a free kick in the 4th minute. Edinho Cordeiro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dedé de Senna in the 10th minute of play. 11 minutes into the game, Miguel Sanches recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Edinho Cordeiro. Miguel Sanches showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. The supporters of Catirina booed when Zelandia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. Leonel Cunha didn't get a good kick on the ball. Lino Pontes recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 16th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 18th match minute, Zelandia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nilton Diniz to maneuver through the defense. Lino Pontes was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 19th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Miguel Sanches was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 21st minute. Catirina's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. In the 23rd minute, Edson Baiano ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Mazinho Maranhense was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. The supporters of Zelandia booed when Catirina was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 32 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ricardinho Lopes didn't get a good kick on the ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Catirina's Miguel Sanches slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Edinho Cordeiro. That made the score 2-1 after 35 minutes of play. Dedé de Senna fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Edinho Cordeiro having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 42nd minute, Dedé de Senna managed to get in a good position for a shot. Catirina's supporters rose to their feet, but Dedé de Senna was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Edinho Cordeiro breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Edinho Cordeiro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Miguel Sanches, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Dedé de Senna to make the kick off. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Dedé de Senna in the 60th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Edinho Cordeiro saved Zelandia from getting behind. Miguel Sanches struck a weak shot in the 61st minute. Edinho Cordeiro didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Catirina. In the 66th minute Júlio Figueiredo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Edinho Cordeiro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 78th minute Dedé de Senna shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Edinho Cordeiro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Vivaldo Lara fell near the penalty area in the 81st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Catirina's protests and gave Vivaldo Lara a yellow card for diving instead. In the 82nd minute of the match Belmiro Prestes sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Mazinho Maranhense skillfully saved the ball. Júlio Figueiredo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 85th minute. Edinho Cordeiro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Zelandia's Edinho Cordeiro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dedé de Senna in the 89th minute of play. In the 92nd minute, Júlio Figueiredo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Catirina had played much better football throughout.
