The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Dedé de Senna struck a weak shot in the 7th minute. Hamílton Luz didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Catirina. Hamílton Luz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Júlio Figueiredo, who was totally free with the ball in the 11th minute. Hamílton Luz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dedé de Senna in the 13th minute of the match. In the 16th minute, Ricardinho Lopes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Mazinho Maranhense made an important save on a dangerous shot by Armandinho Toledo in the 18th minute. Catirina's Mazinho Maranhense played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Carlos Fernando Guerra in the 21st minute of play. 22 minutes into the match, Quixeramobim FC's goal looked a bit too open when Miguel Sanches came free, but Hamílton Luz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 27th minute of the match, Carlos Fernando Guerra tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Mazinho Maranhense saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. The supporters of Quixeramobim FC booed when Catirina was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 28 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dedé de Senna didn't get a good kick on the ball. 30 minutes into the match, Armandinho Toledo notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of Catirina's Mazinho Maranhense. Mazinho Maranhense was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Armandinho Toledo kicked well hit freekick during the 32nd minute of the match. Vivaldo Lara hit a great freekick 46 minutes into the match. Jaime Meira did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 2-0 to the left of a surprised Mazinho Maranhense 47 minutes into the match.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Dedé de Senna made a kick off. In the 57th match minute, Catirina was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Arlindo Cordeiro to maneuver through the defense. 58 minutes into the match, Quixeramobim FC's Zé Roberto Novaes broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Mazinho Maranhense made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Armandinho Toledo in the 61st minute of play. Catirina's Júlio Figueiredo got a good chance for a goal in the 66th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. A collision led to Quixeramobim FC getting a freekick after 66 minutes play. Zé Roberto Novaes hit a great ball. After 68 played minutes Catirina got a freekick which was hit by Vivaldo Lara. In the 70th minute of the match Tião Brasil shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Mazinho Maranhense showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. After 80 played minutes Catirina got a freekick which was hit by Vivaldo Lara. After 81 played minutes, Quixeramobim FC's Zé Roberto Novaes shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Mazinho Maranhense came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Quixeramobim FC reached it. Hamílton Luz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dedé de Senna in the 88th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Dedé de Senna got free with Hamílton Luz in the 91st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Didi Paranaense made in the 93rd minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Catirina's Vivaldo Lara. 94 minutes into the match, Catirina's Vivaldo Lara sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Hamílton Luz narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Hamílton Luz acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 96th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Arlindo Cordeiro. The home crowd let out a huge roar when the referee blew for the end of the game. Quixeramobim FC were victorious despite being under pressure from Catirina for much of the match.
