Bruninho Sousa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 13th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mário França having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ismael Lucas in the 15th minute of play forced Industrial's goalkeeper Mário França to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Industrial's Antônio Carlos Vinhas couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 17th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Sunderland. Giovani Chaves struck a weak shot in the 20th minute. Gabriel Nogueira didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Industrial. Mário França made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bruninho Sousa in the 22nd minute of play. Industrial's Mário França played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bruninho Sousa in the 32nd minute of play. After having played for 38 minutes, Giovani Chaves managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Industrial's supporters crossed their fingers, but Giovani Chaves was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 45 minutes into the game, Industrial's Giovani Chaves nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Gabriel Nogueira made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Enéas Cordeiro to make the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ian Favoretto in the 51st minute of play forced Industrial's goalkeeper Mário França to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Mário França stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ismael Lucas's shot from short distance in the 52nd minute. When Ismael Lucas came up free with the goalie in the 56th minute, the Sunderland fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ismael Lucas couldn't finish the play. Mário França showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ismael Lucas in the 58th minute of the match. Sunderland's Gabriel Nogueira played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Enéas Cordeiro in the 62nd minute of play. Ian Favoretto hit a great freekick 75 minutes into the match. 77 minutes into the match, Enéas Cordeiro dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Gabriel Nogueira, 0-2. 82 minutes into the match, Industrial's goal looked a bit too open when Ismael Lucas came free, but Mário França reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Industrial would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
