The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 9th minute, Augusto Meirelles got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers José Augusto Baptista in the 11th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Geraldo Vasconcelos saved Papuan from getting behind. When Augusto Meirelles came up free with the goalie in the 12th minute, the Ampere EC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Augusto Meirelles couldn't finish the play. Erasmo Koehler kicked well hit freekick during the 14th minute of the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling José Augusto Baptista in the 19th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Geraldo Vasconcelos prevented the ball from getting in the gole. If Augusto Meirelles had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. José Augusto Baptista sent away a hard shot on goal in the 24th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. José Augusto Baptista who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 26thth minute tested the skills of Geraldo Vasconcelos when he managed to save the team from getting behind. José Augusto Baptista fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Geraldo Vasconcelos having to interfere. The supporters of Papuan booed when Ampere EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 45 match minutes in a wonderful position. Augusto Meirelles didn't get a good kick on the ball. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Erasmo Koehler was the one to do the kick off. Ampere EC's Narciso Hermes got a good chance for a goal in the 57th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When the match had gone on for 61 minutes, José Augusto Baptista put it in 1-0 from a short distance just to the right of Geraldo Vasconcelos. In a very dangerous position, a player in Papuan fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 64th minute. Penalty! In the 67th minute there was a penalty for Ampere EC. Luís Eduardo Nogueira stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Geraldo Vasconcelos. 2-0. Papuan's Geraldo Vasconcelos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Augusto Meirelles in the 70th minute of play. Erasmo Koehler kicked well hit freekick during the 72nd minute of the match. Luís Eduardo Nogueira, 73 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. When the match had gone on for 75 minutes, José Augusto Baptista put it in 3-0 from a short distance just to the right of Geraldo Vasconcelos. Válbson Cearense's late challenge caught a Papuan's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card.
