Erasmo Monteiro was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 8th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Lúcio Alagoano. Durval Britto stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Waldir Messias's shot from short distance in the 13th minute. Rubinho de Lara kicked well hit freekick during the 17th minute of the match. Durval Britto showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Waldir Messias, who was totally free with the ball in the 22nd minute. After 25 played minutes Botucatu FC got a freekick which was hit by Rubinho de Lara. Zeca Catarinense was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 25th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Waldir Messias struck a weak shot in the 30th minute. Durval Britto didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ibera F.C.. With his leg Erasmo Monteiro managed to avoid a goal in the 35thth minute, when Botucatu FC's Walmyr Velasco fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Arí Gaúcho in the 48th minute of play forced Botucatu FC's goalkeeper Durval Britto to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

After a defensive mix-up in Ibera F.C.'s zone, Agnaldo da Cunha stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Erasmo Monteiro came out of the goal and Agnaldo da Cunha tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Walmyr Velasco received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 58th minute. Erasmo Monteiro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Walmyr Velasco fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 61st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Erasmo Monteiro having to interfere. When the match had gone on for 67 minutes, Arí Gaúcho took a quick shot and it went in 0-1 without a chance for Durval Britto to make any attempt to save it. The audience thought a goal was coming when Waldir Messias got free with Durval Britto in the 79th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. If Walmyr Velasco had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 86 minutes into the match, Walmyr Velasco notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Ibera F.C.'s Erasmo Monteiro. Erasmo Monteiro was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Erasmo Monteiro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Aílton Lira in the 94th minute of the match. After some careless play in the Ibera F.C. defense, Agnaldo da Cunha kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Erasmo Monteiro. The Ibera F.C. fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Erasmo Monteiro should have stopped the shot. The Ibera F.C. players were the happier at the end of the match as they had prevented Botucatu FC from taking control. The game ends in a draw.
